a taste of eilean iaRmain
Whether you dine in the hotel restaurant, enjoy a relaxed evening at the Bar Am Pràban or enjoy your meal by the pier on the hotel’s shore-front lawn, you’ll be treated to a real taste of the Highlands. The food on offer reflects the abundance of delicious local produce of the Isle of Skye, including fresh seafood and homegrown vegetables.
We also recommend heading next door to the hotel where you can find Pràban na Linne, producers of Hotel Eilean Iarmain’s Gaelic whiskies, to sample the wares and buy a bottle or two to take home.
why we love Hotel eileAn iarmain
The tiny village of Eilean Iarmain is at the forefront of the Gaelic language revival in the Highlands and islands of Scotland. The former owner of Hotel Eilean Iarmain, Sir Ian Noble, was the driving force behind this, and helped to develop Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the only college in the world that delivers its learning programmes entirely in Gaelic.
Gaelic language and culture are at the heart of Hotel Eilean Iarmain, which in turn sits at the heart of the community. The hotel pub, Bar Am Pràban hosts regular traditional music nights with live musicians and a cèilidh atmosphere. The local community regularly visits the pub, and the Gaelic language can be heard floating over the music.
