chaSing waterfalls
One of the best ways to explore this largely untouched area of the Scottish Highlands is on the water. Along the way, you’ll see the magnificent Eas a’ Chual Aluinn, the highest waterfall in the UK. With a 200m drop, it’s three times higher than Niagara Falls when it’s at full force.
You’ll also spot the sea lochs of Glencoul and Glendhu where you could encounter seals, puffins and golden eagles amongst the rich wildlife of the area.
kylesku Hotel
The tour departs just a few yards from The Kylesku Hotel, where you could well be staying. It’s one of Scotland’s oldest hotels, dating back to 1883, and offers a glorious haven by the loch. The seafood at the hotel restaurant comes straight from Loch Glendhu, which you can see from your table as you tuck into a delicious, fresh meal.
With a commitment to warmth, comfort, rest and relaxation, The Kylesku Hotel is the perfect place to make the most of serene surroundings in the middle of Assynt.
Planning your experienCe
A Kylesku boat tour is a perfect way to explore the area during your stay at the Kylesku Hotel, usually around Day 4 of your Scottish tour. Boat tours depart from Kylesku Harbour at 10:30, 12:00 and 14:00 (although you can arrange a private charter if you wish).
We recommend wearing warm clothes, packing a camera and binoculars, and taking a sense of wonder and adventure with you.
