London

Transfer from the airport to the city centre, before spending the afternoon on a guided tour of the city’s highlights. Visit Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, The Churchill War Rooms. Take a walking tour of Royal St James Park and Horseguards Parade, and Parliament. If arriving from London Heathrow, detour to visit Windsor Castle with over 1,000 years of history. The castle has been home to more than 39 kings and queens. Alternatively, make a stop at Eton College.

Take the opportunity to go shopping in London’s famous Regent’s Street, Oxford Street or Marylebone village. Hop over to lesser-known London spots, such as Kenwood House, Hampton Court or Kew Gardens.

Bath (via Stonehenge)

Leaving London head to Stonehenge. Europe’s most famous prehistoric monument is around 5,000 years old – older than the Pyramids of Egypt. After discovering the rituals of the its Neolithic people, head to the stunning spa-town of Bath. Uncover the Roman bath culture that makes the town famous. Wander the picturesque Georgian streets to see the architectural majesty of the Royal Crescent and Circus.

Cardiff via Tintern Abbey and Cotswolds

Journey through the classic English countryside in The Cotswolds and stop just over the border in Wales at Tintern Abbey. Over 500 years since it fell from grace under the Dissolution, the Abbey is a national icon combining Gothic and romantic architecture. In the heart of the city is the magnificent Cardiff Castle constructed on the site of a 2,000-year-old Roman fort. Next to the castle is the much-loved Animal Wall, originally built in 1890. It features life-like stone sculptures of a variety of animals perched on the wall. Contrast the old with the new at Cardiff Bay and the Millennium Centre. Retiring to your hotel, set in a vineyard just outside the city centre.

Brecon Beacons

Arrive at the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons and spend your first day visiting Caerphilly Castle. Marvel at the second-largest fortress in Britain, topped only by Windsor.

Cambrian Mountains

Meander through the rolling valleys of the Cambrian Mountains, exploring the rugged landscapes of the stunning Elan Valley. Hike to the impressive Devil’s Bridge waterfalls then meet the sweeping coast at Cardigan Bay.

Llyn Peninsula

Spend the day on the spectacular Llyn Peninsula dotted with picturesque seaside towns. Visit the mighty coastal fortress of Harlech Castle. Take on one of the only two legal beach drives in the UK at Black Rock Sands.

Anglesey

Explore sweeping beaches, bustling ports, and tiny fishing coves as you explore the island of Anglesey. Visit the medieval Caernarfon Castle before venturing out to the romantic outcrop of Llanddwyn Island to watch the sunset.

Snowdonia National Park

Reach the summit of Mount Snowdon with an exhilarating hike or leisurely journey on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. Discover the history of the slate works in Blaenau Ffestiniog and its impact on the Wales you see today.

Chester/Liverpool

Start the morning exploring Roman Chester. Walk the city walls – the oldest, longest and most complete in Britain dating back 2000 years. Visit the majestic 1000-year-old cathedral and have afternoon tea in the Refectory where monks once ate in silence. Explore “The Rows” continuous half-timbered galleries, reached by steps, which form a second row of shops above those at street level. In Liverpool, trace the life and times of the Fab Four and hear about Britain’s vibrant music culture. After the Beatles Story, discover Liverpool’s important maritime history at Albert Dock.

Yorkshire Dales

The ruins of Fountains Abbey are extraordinary. The structure is part of a complex of buildings and water gardens, making the whole worthy of World Heritage Status. Nearby visit caves and waterfalls, small historic market towns, and taste local cheese at an artisan cheesery.

Yorkshire Dales

Explore James Heriott scenery. Our full-day tour introduces you to many of the places that fired James Herriot’s love of this unique landscape. Many of the locations were also used in the filming of the TV series. Step foot in the Holy Trinity church in the tiny village of Wensley where James and Helen married. Explore 14th-century Bolton Castle where James proposed to Helen. Visit Aysgarth Falls, a beautiful triple flight of waterfalls, surrounded by forest and farmland.

Arrive in the Viking town of York. After lunch, delve into Harry Potter-like streets, or tour one of England’s most beautiful churches – York Minster. Shop among the gothic cobbled streets.

Founded in 1683, the Ashmolean Museum has one of the world’s finest collections of mummies and Egyptian artefacts. Lunch at the covered market or one of the many cafes popular with students and faculty, before taking in one of the many historic pubs. Our favourites include the Eagle and Child, Turf Tavern or The King’s Arms. Beyond the famous University, the city has much of its history such as the Norman Castle and the Baroque St Mary’s Church.
