The best way to understand a Celtic Routes journey is to hear from those who’ve experienced one.

These are independent reviews from our customers – travellers who have explored the UK and Ireland with us, each with their own route, pace and priorities.

We had a superb holiday in Scotland with all the bookings and arrangements taken care of for our rather last minute holiday so all credit to the team for sorting out lovely hotels in places that we wanted to visit; we began in Edinburgh and handed car back in Glasgow which helped with our plans. Cannot fault the holiday.

“Our planning with Hazel was terrific. She really listened to what we wanted to do and offered good suggestions. The Edinburgh Walking Tour was so interesting and our guide, Malley, was a lot of fun. Glenfiddich Distillery Tour was very enjoyable. Having a car allowed us the freedom to take additional excursions when we wanted. The vast amount of information provided in the app was so helpful – especially where to park!”

We had a truly magical 9 days in the Scottish Highlands with our 18-year-old toddler! The process to design and book the trip was seamless, and Celtic Routes was incredibly thoughtful and meticulous about booking a trip with a toddler. Every hotel had a crib set up for us on arrival and the car seat for our son was the right size. The app gave excellent suggestions of where to stop, and each of the accommodations was lovely and boutique. Additionally, the app provided the exact level of background information about the route necessary to help us decide where to stop and how best to plan our days. We didn’t feel a moment was wasted! Celtic Routes was extremely communicative and responsive to our questions, and tweaked our itinerary until it was exactly what we hoped. The Land Rover was comfortable and spacious, and we had no issues whatsoever. We honestly can’t speak highly enough of our experience and will hopefully take another trip someday! We will be recommending Celtic Routes to all of our family and friends.

Our adventures in the Highlands and Isle of Skye in Scotland was very relaxing and stress-free thanks to the team at Celtic Routes. Their desire to create a memorable holiday experience for us was apparent throughout. From our initial consultation with Hazel and ongoing contact with KariAnn and Alison to “fine-tune” our arrangements, we felt nothing was being left to chance. The hotel choices were superb, the travel routes and itineraries were designed with our interests in mind but offered alternative options for “free-wheeling” if we wished, and we always felt welcome to reach out with any issues or concerns – of which there were none. Of course, the Land Rover Defender added an additional level of comfort and peace of mind to our adventure. We thoroughly enjoyed the planning, anticipation and travel experience crafted by Celtic Routes and are already planning our next adventure with them.

We have just returned from a fabulous 10 days in Ireland thanks to the Celtic Routes team. We can’t fault the service and would happily come back to book with them again! Our Range Rover was so comfortable for the two of us, and the app helped make sure we didn’t miss anything along the way. A friendly man delivered the car to us in Dublin and put us at ease before we set off on the wrong side of the road. We stayed in wonderfully charming hotels and were grateful of the dinner recommendations after being on the move each day. Thank you for a super experience!

Celtic Routes is by far the most customer-friendly, personal travel company I have ever worked with. It all began with an interview call that was more like talking to a friend than speaking with someone who was trying to sell me something. That interview turned into a bespoke travel itinerary that addressed every request. Each step of the way in preparation for our vacation was seamlessly simple and the Celtic Routes Team left no question unanswered.

Tom and I had a magical trip! We discovered beautiful new places, met lovely people, and wandered on paths of people from longer ago than we could ever imagine. From the wall walk in York (outside our back door!) to the cobblestone streets of the Brontë family environs; from the relative flats of the dales to the incline of the “easy” walks; from the sheep dotting the landscape to the friendly market towns (wherein I found Wensleydale Longwool yarn and even knit a cap!); from the picnic backpack in the car to the Michelin-starred meals…we were mesmerized.

In August 2024, we were captivated by the most beautifully designed tour of Scotland. Celtic Routes (Alexia and Graham) listened carefully to our hopes and fulfilled our dreams. Each day unfolded with drives through other-worldly geography; stops at “walks” (read “hikes!”) to waterfalls and historic spots; and some of the best food we have ever had on vacation. Each night was spent in a bed and breakfast/hotel as cozy and comfy as the last. We asked to participate in a mixture of typical tourist spots and lesser known. The balance was perfect. We loved this trip so much that we are working with Alexia and Graham again…this time in Yorkshire. However, we would return to Scotland with Celtic Routes in a heartbeat! We had so many highlights (from the food to the accommodations; from the routes to the app that added additional information; and from the tourist must-dos to the special spots identified by Alexia and Graham) that we do not want to single out any one or two places, people, or events.

It was an amazing 5 days traveling the Celtic NC500 route through the north of Scotland. Everything was so well-organised upfront by Graham so we had all the time to just enjoy the surroundings and our travel every day! We stayed in beautiful hotels and enjoyed great food (& whisky). We’ll be back next year!
