why we love Abbeyglen castle hOtel

The rich history that surrounds Abbeyglen Castle can be felt in every part of the grounds. Built in 1832, the castle was first leased to the parish priest and then bought by the Irish Church Mission Society for use as a protestant orphanage.

Visiting the stylish hotel now, it’s hard to believe that it fell derelict in the 1950s and was home to cattle and sheep before being bought in the 1960s, beginning its journey to becoming one of Connemara’s premier hotels in Ireland.
