London

Wander through centuries of history in a famous line up of Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and the Churchill War Rooms to Royal St James Park, Horseguards Parade and the Houses Parliament either at your own pace or on a privately guided tour.

day 2

Railroad to York

This morning sit back and relax as you take the east coast train and whizz through the English countryside to the Viking city of York. After lunch, delve into a Harry-Potter inspired world featuring one of England’s finest Gothic churches – York Minster, and stroll medieval streets beneath Roman walls. Check in to Malmaison York, a stylish boutique hotel set in a former warehouse on the banks of the River Ouse.

Castle Howard & Yorkshire Moors

Take delivery of your vehicle and leave York via one of England’s greatest country homes – Castle Howard – used as a filming location for the period-drama Bridgerton. Drive across heather-clad rolling moors to visit the Cistercian Rievaulx Abbey one of the greatest in Europe before ending in the picturesque market town of Helmsley.

The ruins of Fountains Abbey are extraordinary. The structure is part of a complex of buildings and water gardens, making the whole worthy of World Heritage Status. Nearby visit caves and waterfalls, small historic market towns, and taste local cheese at an artisan cheesery. Overnight at Yorebridge House or Swinton Estate, the perfect place for afternoon tea.

Lake District

Take a scenic drive through spectacular mountain passes, or explore the national park on foot either with a short walk up Cat Bells or a full-on all day hike up on the classic Wainwrights. Take a boat tour of Lake Windermere, or visit the Beatrice Potter museum. Overnight at The Samling or Another Place.

Drive through the Lake District’s winding country roads, or explore the national park on foot with a stroll around Tarn Hows or a hike up the dramatic heights of Helvellyn. Uncover local history at Dove Cottage, the former home of poet William Wordsworth. Discover cozy pubs, artisanal shops, and the tranquil beauty of hidden valleys and glistening lakes.

York / London

Head back to York through the remote North Pennines, England’s rural backbone, to return your vehicle before taking the train back to London. Alternatively travel via Chester, Manchester or Liverpool and jump on the train from there.
