on the Lookout
Take a leisurely walk along Kylerhea’s rugged coastline on the Southern side of Isle of Skye, keeping an eye out for otters frolicking in the waters. This stretch of coast is one of the best places to spot otters, as the natural rock pools provide the perfect habitat to keep pups safe and make a fertile breeding ground for adults.
the ottEr hide
The mile-long walk along the forest path takes you to the otter hide – a wooden building that looks out over the channel, fitted with binoculars to help you catch a glimpse of otters playing by the shore. While you’re not guaranteed to spot them, you can expect to see a wide range of sea birds, including oystercatchers and curlews, and might even see common and grey seals, too.
the Isle of Skye
The Isle of Skye is the largest of the Hebrides islands and is known for its lush glens and ghostly peaks. There’s plenty to do on the island, including a visit to the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland, Dunvegan, and the oldest working distillery on the island, Talisker.
