What is fly fishing?
Most forms of fishing include a weight at the end of the line that helps to cast out at a distance. In fly fishing, there’s no weight on your line, and the distance you can cast depends more on your technique.
The very nature of fly fishing makes it a more involved sport. Instead of sitting on the bank and waiting for a bite, you’ll be learning about and adjusting to fish behaviour and feeding habits, really immersing yourself in the remote beauty of Assynt.

Fly fishing is seasonal and available from mid-March to early October each year. James provides all specialist equipment and permits; you’ll just need waterproof outdoor clothing, including wellies and waders if you have them, and a packed lunch.
